Here is some fun hand-embellished holiday type that I made for our company holiday card, which probably won’t end up being used.

It was inspired by the logo that I am preparing for this week! I think I have decided to do a logo for a food brand that could be found in specialty grocery stores. Since I am on the packaging kick, I am envisioning packages of pasta, jars of sauces, spices and tubs of cheese or whatever else goes in a tub. It is going to be Italian food and it will be organic. So I am calling it “Cucina Organica”, the Italian phrase for organic cuisine. If you are wondering how I come up with this stuff, in this case I just went to a language translation website and typed in words until I found something that didn’t sound unpronouncable. I usually use an online thesaurus and just type in words that have to do with the type of business that I want to design for until I see something that inspires me. Anyway, you will see similarities from my holiday-ish type and the logo for this week. It is based on a typeface from Flat-It Foundry called “Paticceria” from their Holiday Type series of painter’s fonts. I bought it a while ago and have been waiting forever to use it for something!

I’m still alive! Week 18 on the 18th!
